Discos have been Unibodyish since the 3. This one is just lighter. As for your reasons, The Disco is slightly cheaper and is way better on road with that last point being why Land Rover are so untouchable sales wise despite their reliable reputation for being unreliable.

I would agree. There are a few design elements every generation of the Discovery has had, chief among them is the boxiness. They seem to have just made a bigger Evoque.

Well for many you’re either body on frame or you’re not and the Discos & RRS have an “integrated body on frame” which is essentially a Unibody on top of a frame hence the unibodyish.
From what I have read the difference between the Disco 5 and the older Discos is that the body will be all aluminium as opposed to being part steel. Maybe they have changed the underlying platform and I've missed that.
